Bird of Paradise

Bird of Paradise

Liquid IllusionDid you know that the bird of paradise is actually a bird?  That’s right!  It is one of the most beautiful birds you will ever see.  Some of them are bright green and yellow, some are brilliant red.  What they all have common are the beautiful long feathery plumes that grown from its back.  Their beautiful tails are usually a very stunning deep golden-yellow.

There is a flower by the same name, which is equally as colorful and beautiful.  In fact, it is one of my favorite flowers sporting bright shades of green, orange, blue and pink.  Exotic and bright, the flower resembles the head and beak the bird it’s named after with large leaves on even longer stems causing the flower to look as if a real bird emerging from the leaves.  The Bird of Paradise flowering plant is native to South Africa and grows profusely in California.  As a cut flower it will last longer than many other fresh cut flowers, but as silk flowers in a vase of liquid illusion,  artificial water or faux water as some call it, you can enjoy their colorful, exotic beauty forever!
