Reach Out And Touch A Female Dragon!

Reach Out And Touch A Female Dragon!

Silk PlantsOMG!  Here’s something I didn’t know, the Dracaena plant gets its name from the Greek word “drakaina”, meaning a female dragon.  Wait, it’s not as bad as it sounds!  The connection between this popular plant and beast is the red gum produced when the stem is cut, and is said to resemble dragon’s blood.  I wonder who made that comparison!  A native of Africa and New Guinea, the dracaena is usually displayed as a bushy, multiple sprouted cane floor plant.  One of the most common Dracaena is the one more commonly known as the Corn Plant.  It has broad leaves with a dramatic, single variegated yellow stripe on each leaf.

The “Real Touch” Dracaena silk plants are the easiest to care for because there is no need to worry about the amount of sunlight it needs.  There is no need to worry about how often to water this beautiful carefree plant.  Mealy bugs and scale will never attack these life-like silk plants.  You’re free to display these beautiful plants anywhere in your home or office.  Not only will they make great focal points, silk plants are perfect for filling in gaps between furniture or as an accent in the corner of a room.  “Real Touch” artificial plants are perfect in color, texture and touch.

AKA, “Flamingo Flower” or “Boy Flower”

AKA, “Flamingo Flower” or “Boy Flower”

Silk Plants
Those red pursed lips…now that I have your attention, I’d like to continue to introduce the plants I was about to describe.  The Anthurium plant is also known as the “Flamingo Flower” or “Boy Flower”, both descriptions refer to the structure of the plants spathe and spadix (grab your dictionary because I’m not going to explain).  The leaves may be shaped like a spatula, rounded or obtuse.  They may be borne erect or spreading in a rosette.  The leaves are usually fully glossy, but this can vary among species.  The flowers are often divided sexually, I’m still talking about a plant here, with a sterile band separating male from female flowers. The blooms on this plant are absolutely stunning against the glossy green leaves, and are sure to make a great focal point in any setting.

To ensure that you have a plant that is in constant bloom, you will want to select a beautiful “RealTouch” silk plant for the occasion.  Like I said in the beginning, those red pursed lips, referring to the bright red flowers accented by the lush green leaves of these breathtaking silk plants.  So go ahead and add that something extra to your home or office.  Remember, these are life-like silk plants, so there is no need to worry about allergens or toxins being produced by the plant.  And because they are “Real Touch” artificial plants, they look just as good as they feel.
