OMG!  Here’s something I didn’t know, the Dracaena plant gets its name from the Greek word “drakaina”, meaning a female dragon.  Wait, it’s not as bad as it sounds!  The connection between this popular plant and beast is the red gum produced when the stem is cut, and is said to resemble dragon’s blood.  I wonder who made that comparison!  A native of Africa and New Guinea, the dracaena is usually displayed as a bushy, multiple sprouted cane floor plant.  One of the most common Dracaena is the one more commonly known as the Corn Plant.  It has broad leaves with a dramatic, single variegated yellow stripe on each leaf.

The blooms on this plant are absolutely stunning against the glossy green leaves, and are sure to make a great focal point in any setting.
