Lights! Camera! Kentia Palm Tree!

Whether you are decorating for home or business, there is no doubt about it, it’s the palm tree that creates the feeling of calm.  When it comes to creating a magical, tropical, and relaxing setting, palm trees are exactly what you need to put an island paradise right at your fingertips.  Artificial palm trees are an easy and affordable way to create a tropical paradise for any environment.  Available today, is a very wide variety of artificial palm trees that can help you redecorate or add to your existing décor.  With so many to choose from, let’s look at the attributes of some of the beautiful lifelike silk palm trees available on the market.

If you are looking to add a little sunshine to a dark area, you may want to take a close look at the Kentia Palm.  Kentia palms, with their slender trunks and arching, feathered evergreen leaves are by far the number one indoor palm tree of all times.  Also known as the paradise palm, the Kentia palm will turn any space into a paradise.  The spread of a Kentia palm tree can range anywhere from 5 to 10 feet in diameter and contain up to 3 dozen leaves.  Kentia palms are often seen in hotel lobbies, malls and business office lobbies.  Because it is so beautifully, elegant, exotic and dramatic, and has made so many appearances in Hollywood movies, the Kentia palm has recently been given the name Hollywood palm.  This is one palm that will demand a lot of space.

Palm Tree Sizes and Purposes

Palm Tree Sizes and Purposes

Let me make one thing clear, the silk palm trees referenced as the most popular in this blog series will be the ones available on my website of course.  Any others mentioned are just as a matter of reference. With that being said, let’s get started with identifying the best size palm or palms for your specific needs.  Oh, by-the-way, if you notice that I make reference to every palm tree as my favorite, that’s because I love palm trees.  Today, let’s look at what sizes are available and their general uses.
The smaller artificial palm trees available today are typically used for tabletops, pedestals, or stands, in other words, you’ll sit them on something.  These palm trees are usually less than 2 feet tall.  Floor plants are usually 2 to 4 feet tall and work well on a table, in an entryway or reception area that has a limited amount of space, this too, will depend on the type of palm chosen.   Now for the trees, oh the trees, start at 5 feet tall and depending on the species, it can be tall and narrow or tall and lush.  Of course, you will find more choices available in trees than plants.  These are just guidelines, however depending on the impact you’d like to make, you can select an array of sizes and place them wherever you feel necessary to meet your needs.  The smaller tabletop palms can be strategically placed around a room or area to blend and mingle with the floor plants and trees.  Don’t’ forget to team your selection with decorative planters to complete the presentation.
