Reach Out And Touch A Female Dragon!

Reach Out And Touch A Female Dragon!

Silk PlantsOMG!  Here’s something I didn’t know, the Dracaena plant gets its name from the Greek word “drakaina”, meaning a female dragon.  Wait, it’s not as bad as it sounds!  The connection between this popular plant and beast is the red gum produced when the stem is cut, and is said to resemble dragon’s blood.  I wonder who made that comparison!  A native of Africa and New Guinea, the dracaena is usually displayed as a bushy, multiple sprouted cane floor plant.  One of the most common Dracaena is the one more commonly known as the Corn Plant.  It has broad leaves with a dramatic, single variegated yellow stripe on each leaf.

The “Real Touch” Dracaena silk plants are the easiest to care for because there is no need to worry about the amount of sunlight it needs.  There is no need to worry about how often to water this beautiful carefree plant.  Mealy bugs and scale will never attack these life-like silk plants.  You’re free to display these beautiful plants anywhere in your home or office.  Not only will they make great focal points, silk plants are perfect for filling in gaps between furniture or as an accent in the corner of a room.  “Real Touch” artificial plants are perfect in color, texture and touch.

It’s All In The Palm

It’s All In The Palm
Artificial Palm TreesAre you looking for a unique tree as the focal point to your décor? Then consider the distinctive flare of an artificial Fishtail Palm tree. These artificial palm trees are sure to capture your heart with hundreds of ridged tipped leaves that sprawl outwards from a sturdy, rugged trunk for support.

I’ll bet you are now wondering exactly what makes this tree so unique? It begins with the nickname ‘fishtail’ due to the jagged or chopped shape of the leaves that resembles, you guessed it, fishtails. The tree gets its exotic and tropical beauty from its native Southeast Asia and areas of the South Pacific. This palm does deliver that tropical beauty and exotic foliage that you have been searching for.

AKA, “Flamingo Flower” or “Boy Flower”

AKA, “Flamingo Flower” or “Boy Flower”

Silk Plants
Those red pursed lips…now that I have your attention, I’d like to continue to introduce the plants I was about to describe.  The Anthurium plant is also known as the “Flamingo Flower” or “Boy Flower”, both descriptions refer to the structure of the plants spathe and spadix (grab your dictionary because I’m not going to explain).  The leaves may be shaped like a spatula, rounded or obtuse.  They may be borne erect or spreading in a rosette.  The leaves are usually fully glossy, but this can vary among species.  The flowers are often divided sexually, I’m still talking about a plant here, with a sterile band separating male from female flowers. The blooms on this plant are absolutely stunning against the glossy green leaves, and are sure to make a great focal point in any setting.

To ensure that you have a plant that is in constant bloom, you will want to select a beautiful “RealTouch” silk plant for the occasion.  Like I said in the beginning, those red pursed lips, referring to the bright red flowers accented by the lush green leaves of these breathtaking silk plants.  So go ahead and add that something extra to your home or office.  Remember, these are life-like silk plants, so there is no need to worry about allergens or toxins being produced by the plant.  And because they are “Real Touch” artificial plants, they look just as good as they feel.

Flourishing Ficus Trees

Flourishing Ficus Trees

Artificial Ficus TreesGreen, flourishing and beautiful, artificial Ficus trees are life-like trees made of top quality materials with natural or real wood trunks.  Silk Ficus trees are an exact replica of the live ones and are available in just as many sizes and shapes.  A lavish silk Ficus will enhance the ambiance and charm of any décor without the all of the dedication and care required to maintain its appearance.

If you have ever owned a live Ficus tree, or even know any who has, then you have noticed that the tree suffers quite a deal of leaf loss.  That’s because the Ficus tree does not like changes!  The care and environment must remain the same as much as possible.  In an ideal world this would be no problem.  But as life has it, we have our season changes, which will change the amount of light this sun loving tree receives. Though the Ficus will survive in lower levels of light, it will suffer a great deal of leaf loss with the transition.  So keep a broom or vacuum cleaner close at hand.  Or, simply preserve the beauty of the Ficus with a silk Ficus tree.

It’s Easier To Say Peace Lily

It's Easier To Say Peace Lily

Spathiphyllum!  I’ll bet you can’t say that fast 3 times!  Can you spell it with your eyes closed?  It’s so much easier to say and spell Peace Lily.  Can anyone tell me why the spathiphyllum is even called Peace Lily?  I certainly have no idea?  What I do know is that it is a beautiful plant that is even more beautiful when it blooms every few months displaying lovely white flowers. The live plant carries a long list of benefits, but is not the perfect plant for every home.  The peace lily is harmful if ingested by children and even more dangerous for dogs and cats.  And allergy sufferers, you will want to keep the meds and tissue close at hand.

Hold on, there is a solution!  For the safety of all occupants of your home or office, I’d like to suggest that you keep the peace with a stunning life-like peace lily.  Think of all of the benefits.  You’ll have a beautiful lush plant with shiny bold green leaves with delicate flowers that are constantly in bloom.  There will be no danger to your home or office occupants.  Really, what can be more peaceful than silk plants in bloom!

Don’t Postpone Spring!

Don't Postpone Spring!

Liquid IllusionDon’t look at me like that!  I am NOT one of those people who are sad to have winter whether come to an end!  In fact, for me, immediately after fall, spring can’t get here soon enough!  I absolutely love the scents and floral display of spring.  As soon as the snow I begin looking for the first showing of the crocuses to flaunt their colors, then the breath taking daffodils and flashy tulips to burst into bloom.  And I get so excited by the thought of the hyacinth, that I am convinced that their scent precedes their appearance.

Just thinking about spring gets me so excited by the warm weather, longer sunshiny days, the beauty about to emerge from the earth. For me, hyacinth in bloom is the sure sign that spring is here.  In fact, a collection of hyacinth bulbs in bloom is just what I need to chase the winter blues away.  Better yet, I can shake the blues everyday with beautiful life-like hyacinth flowers growing right out of the bulb in a glass vase of artificial water (liquid illusion).  What a way to bring spring in early.

Silk Plants, No Doubt!

Silk Plants, No Doubt!

Silk PlantsNative to the tropical swamps and rainforest to southeastern Asia, The Aglaonema, and don’t ask me to pronounce it, is genus of about 40 species of foliage plants.  Among them is the Silver King, sometimes call Chinese Evergreens.  In Asia, some people consider the plant to be so lucky they use it to pick their lotto numbers.   Some Thai people refer to Aglaonemas as smile of fortune plants.  The Silver King as dark green leaves and yes, flowers, the flowers are inconspicuous but they are there.  And that small detail can cause problems for allergy sufferers.  Not only that, the sap of this plant is poisonous to health, and it causes skin irritations.  How is that lucky?

Here’s lucky!  An artificial Silver King!  Silk plants remove any doubt about the safety or health risks involved in using plants as accents for home and office décor.  We want to make our environment warm, cheerful, and inviting, and plants definitely add those much needed qualities to our surroundings.  But we need to protect the occupants of our home and workplace from the hidden risks sometimes present in live plants.  With safety in mind, decorate to your hearts content with silk plants, flowers and trees!

My Bonsai Story

My Bonsai Story

Silk Bonsai TreeI’d like to tell you my story about bonsai trees.  At the risk of revealing my age, I’ll just say some years ago, I’d guess it was about the time of the first Karate Kid movie when Mr. Miyagi introduced us to the aesthetic beauty of the bonsai, that I became captivated. This all happened before online shopping and research became popular.   I searched for local growers of bonsai trees, and as you may have guessed, the beautiful, full, mature ones were the most expensive.  And as expensive as they were, I had to have one.  Then another, because things were going well, and I didn’t want the first one to get lonely you know, that would make me a terrible bonsai parent.

I purchased books on bonsai care and training.  I even purchased young trees and plants to transform into bonsai.  I literally jumped head first into the art of bonsai.  Then life happened!  Actually, it kind of got in the way of me and my bonsai.  I no longer had the time required to care for and train my trees.  So of course, they died.  I’m not sure if the technology was available then to produce the beautiful, lifelike, silk bonsai trees we have today.  If it was, I wasn’t aware of it. But that’s life, ever changing and evolving.  In fact, today, for only a fraction of the price of a live bonsai tree, technology has made available silk bonsai trees in many sizes, shapes and stages of maturity.  And of course, I had to have a silk bonsai tree, then another, and another.  Life continues to happen, but this time my bonsai trees live on!

Take A Stand!

Take A Stand!

Silk Flower ArrangementsSpring is an invigorating and uplifting season for some people because it’s a time for love and new beginnings.  For others, the thought of spring is a reminder of visits to the pharmacy for seasonal prescriptions, you know what I mean.  They also get to snuggle up with a box of tissues instead of a special some.  Why would they look forward to the warmth of new plant life and gardens in bloom?  Sometimes these allergy suffers can’t even find sanctuary in their own homes because flower loving family members want to enjoy the colors of spring blooms indoors.

Allergy sufferers, it’s time to take a stand!  Get a head start on your favorite flower lovers by bringing in the blooms before spring with silk flower arrangements.  Silk flower arrangements are hypoallergenic and their beautiful blooms can be enjoyed year after year.  With silk flower arrangements, you are free to enjoy all of the beauty and benefits of real flowers without the allergy producing pollens.  Just as life like as they appear in any garden, artificial tulips, lilies, hyacinth, freesia are just a few of the many colorful spring silk flowers available to make the season more enjoyable.  Allergy sufferers take a stand! Present A Reality With Liquid Illusion

Present A Reality With Liquid Illusion

Liquid IllusionHigh quality silk flowers will, without a doubt, give the illusion of reality.  But when they are arranged in a beautiful vase of decorative marbles or rocks, a great deal of that illusion, like a cloud of smoke, vanishes.  Even the most highly skilled at mixing colors and arranging flowers in the perfect vase cannot assemble a realistic flower arrangement with those tools.

One of the fastest growing trends in the floral design industry today are liquid illusion flower arrangements.  You see, liquid illusion arrangements are artificial flowers that look as if they are in a vase of water.   To make a silk flower arrangement look more realistic as well as professional, a clear, strong gelatin is added to a clear vase of flowers to give the illusion of a vase of flowers in water.  The process is often referred to as liquid illusion, some will say acrylic water, fake water, or faux water.  This wonderfully, creative process clearly creates the illusion of reality.  Liquid illusion flower arrangements are far more superior in quality, appearance, and design.

Calla Lily Centerpieces

Calla Lily Centerpieces

Liquid IllusionBeautiful and elegant, are two of the best words to describe the Calla Lily, one of the most popular and recognizable flowers in the world.  Native to Southern Africa, the Calla Lily is easy to distinguish by its trumpet-shaped flower, wide leaves, and a long, thick, sturdy stem.  With an almost endless array of spectacular color options, the graceful, lean lines of Calla Lilies are a fantastic choice for centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres.

Calla Lilies tend to look their best when displayed in simple arrangements that boaster their distinctive shape and emphasize their long graceful stems.  When displayed in a tall clear vase, Calla Lilies will add style to any room.  While fresh flowers are great, life-like silk Calla Lilies now taking their place due to the definite longevity of these amazingly beautiful artificial flowers.  Beautiful silk flower arrangements are available in clear vases with artificial water, often referred to as liquid illusion and water illusion. Colorful silk Calla Lilies in liquid illusion offer a centerpiece to be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Wedding Extravagance at a Discount

Wedding Extravagance at a Discount

Orchids are gorgeous tropical flowers. They are wonderful for weddings from the bride’s bouquet to centerpieces. Unfortunately, orchids are also very expensive, especially in the off season. If you still want to have an extravagant look for your wedding without the price tag, consider using silk orchids.

You can use white silk orchids in your bridal bouquet. Simply arrange the flowers the way you like and wrap them with floral tape or ribbon. Place branches of silk orchids in tall vases. Or you can submerge a few fake blossoms in clear plastic containers. Even scattered on the table with small votive candles will give off an elegant vibe. Who said you can’t achieve grandeur on a budget?

Bird of Paradise

Bird of Paradise

Liquid IllusionDid you know that the bird of paradise is actually a bird?  That’s right!  It is one of the most beautiful birds you will ever see.  Some of them are bright green and yellow, some are brilliant red.  What they all have common are the beautiful long feathery plumes that grown from its back.  Their beautiful tails are usually a very stunning deep golden-yellow.

There is a flower by the same name, which is equally as colorful and beautiful.  In fact, it is one of my favorite flowers sporting bright shades of green, orange, blue and pink.  Exotic and bright, the flower resembles the head and beak the bird it’s named after with large leaves on even longer stems causing the flower to look as if a real bird emerging from the leaves.  The Bird of Paradise flowering plant is native to South Africa and grows profusely in California.  As a cut flower it will last longer than many other fresh cut flowers, but as silk flowers in a vase of liquid illusion,  artificial water or faux water as some call it, you can enjoy their colorful, exotic beauty forever!

Peony Lovers Unite

Peony Lovers Unite

Liquid Illusion
Peonies are one of the favorites among flower enthusiasts.  After all, they were one of the first perennial flowers grown in American gardens.  Peonies are large, lush, fragrant flowers that range in color from pure white to deep crimson.  They are often chosen as wedding flowers because they are so feminine, gracious and charming, are easily available in late spring to early summers in almost any color imaginable, and are bursting with fragrance.   The full and ruffle blooms of peonies make an awesome bridal bouquet on its own or combined with other flowers.

Silk peonies are now available in an array of colors.  They are the highlight of many centerpiece designs often arranged in combination with other flowers of a similar shape.  Like-like peonies look great as cut flowers in a clear glass vase of artificial water, often referred to as liquid illusion or faux water.  The flower demands attention as a focal point in a wreath on the front door or entryway. A dazzling peony arrangement is a colorful addition to any space regardless of the occasion or season.
